Thanks for stopping by Positively Depressed.  This is a little side project that I have started to participate in a project called 102 Words.  102 Words is a community of people committed to improving their writing through concise disciplined writing. Since my writing is typically neither concise nor disciplined this will be tricky for me but I am up for the challenge!

I have struggled off and on for the past 8 years with depression.  I know what it feels like to not want to get out of bed in the morning – although I always managed to. I know how dark it can feel when something is just not right in your head or your heart or both. I have felt the sting of the shame of depression. I know that there are many people who suffer way more than I ever have but the window that I have had into the darkness of depression was enough to make me want to help encourage anyone struggling.

Depression is a thief.  It steals time, energy and joy among other things, but it can’t steal you unless you allow it to.

My prayer is that this little space can offer some light, love, hope and healing to someone who needs it. Whether you are struggling yourself, trying to better understand the plight of a loved one who suffers, or are just having a bad day, I am glad you are here. You are not alone.
