Songs in the night
by Tracey Metzger
My body rests but my mind does not.
I must guard my mind as if it were a castle filled with precious treasures in need of protection. Build moats if necessary. Ward off intruders.
A good practice is to fill my mind with things that will feed it while I rest. Things that are pure and lovely. When the natural light of day gives way to the darkness I must ensure that my mind does not.
Though my body rests my spirit is awake. The Maker of my soul gives me songs in the night if I listen for them.
